Zoom Settings

Settings that are made in your zoom account that will protect your meeting(s) and make them more useful.
To get there:

Go to zoom.us and log into your account. From the menu on the left, select Settings

AI Companion tab
Meeting summary with AI Companion ON Allows the AI Meeting Summary option
Host can turn on AI companion during a meeting, and view the AI-generated summary using the Meeting Summary menu option (above Settings) after the meeting ends.

Meeting tab
Waiting Room OFF Used to screen participants before letting them into the meeting.
My preference is OFF, so participants can join without screening.
When ON, then those joining meeting are placed in a waiting room, and host has to admit attendees individually.
Hosts/co-hosts can turn Waiting Room ON and OFF after the meeting has started.
Allow participants to join before host ON This ON means participants can join and chat before you the host get to the meeting. Lets people use your meeting room even if you don't join as host.
You will be notified when a participant joins the meeting if you're not in it yet
Mute all participants when they join a meeting OFF Prevents others joining from unmuting themselves if ON.
Meeting Chat ON Allows participants to send chat messages. Then from the dropdown choose limitations on chat messages. I use 'Everyone and anyone directly'
Allow users to save chats from the meeting ON and Everyone
Allow participants to delete messages in meeting chat ON participants can delete their own messages; hosts and co-hosts can delete any chat messages.
Allow participants to edit messages in meeting chat ON allows participants to correct their messages
Meeting chat - Direct messages ON So participants can send direct messages to another participant
Meeting chat - Auto-save ON When meeting ends, chat messages are saved on host's computer
Sound notification when someone joins or leaves OFF When on, very annoying tones.
Send files via meeting chat ON lets people send files through in-meeting chat
Co-host ON Allow the host to add co-hosts. Co-hosts have same in-meeting controls as host.
Show Zoom windows during screen share ON
How many participants can share at the same time? ONE one at a time prevents confusion
Who can share? All Participants
Who can start sharing when someone else is sharing? Host Only Prevents an attendee from grabbing the share from the presenter.
Host/co-host can stop someone's share at any time. Prevents hijacking.
Allow removed participants to rejoin OFF If host/co-host kicks someone out of meeting, they can't rejoin to continue bad behavior
Allow participants to rename themselves ON
Automated captions ON Lets uses turn on captions during a meeting

Recording tab
Record to computer files OFF Lets participants record the meeting to their computer. Turn on if you want this.
Cloud Recording setting Choose at least
'Record active speaker with shared screen'
'Save chat messages from the meeting'
Display participants' names in the recording'
Record thumbnails when sharing ON You see the speaker's face as thumbnail in the corner, along with what they are sharing and discussing
Recording notifications ALL Tells participants that the meeting is being recorded (when recording starts or stops or when participants join a meeting being recorded)
